The Delivery:
The theme of the London MASTERCLASS is "Tourism and Political Change: Response and Responsibility". Recognising that the political dimension of tourism ranges from the personal to the global and drawing insights from a number of international examples, this MASTERCLASS will explore a number of critical political concerns intersecting tourism. A panel of distinguished speakers will consider tourism and political change in the context of economic, environmental and social development both in the destination areas and in the generation markets.

Dr Raoul Bianchi (University of East London) will speak on:
"Tourism and Citizenship in the Age of Mobility"

Mr John Hilary (Executive Director, War on Want) will speak on:
"Reclaiming Sovereignty: Tourism, Corporate Power and Community Rights"

Professor Tom Selwyn (SOAS, University of London) will speak on:
"Tourism and post conflict reconstruction"

Professor Peter Mason (Victoria University (AU) and London South Bank University (UK) ) and Dr Weiping Lee (University of Bedfordshire, UK) will speak on:
"Tourism and Terrorism in the Developing World: Tourist Reaction and Host Response"

Professor Tom Baum (University of Strathclyde) will speak on "
"Public-Private Partnerships in Tourism HRD: a South-East Asia Perspective"






The Participants:
The MASTERCLASS will be of interest to public and private sector professionals in the Tourism, Hospitality, Heritage, Museums and Events sectors, as well as representatives of NGOs and development organizations. The MASTERCLASS will also be of interest to research students and others wishing to engage with up-to-date perspectives on tourism and its broader political implications.

The Programme:
The programme will comprise lectures, workshops, discussions and presentations delivered in themed morning and afternoon sessions.

Fees for the London Masterclass (payable in Swiss Francs) are as follows:

Full Day CHF 170.00 (including lunch)
Single session  CHF 60.00  (*excluding lunch)

50% Discount for full-time students (proof of status required)
